COLUMBUS -- A reunion, planned by former Crew star Dante Washington, gave a crowd of almost a thousand some great vibes from Columbus Crew soccer glory gone by.
Crew SC fans gathered round a condensed pitch Sunday morning at the Ohio History Connection for a celebration of the team's storied past, an afternoon of tailgating, and culminating at the final regular season match of 2018.
A host of Crew greats were on hand including Brian McBride, Kyle Martino, Edson Buddle, Mike Clark and keepers Brad Daugherty and Tom Presthus. The legends staged a meet and greet and autograph session after the two 25-minute halves.
"It's great that this movement (Save The Crew) resulted in keeping this team that is so dear to us," said McBride. "That's why we are back."
The team's most ardent fans in the Nordecke hosted MEGATAILGATE before the final home game of the regular season.
