High School Football Fever: Hartley wins back-to-back state titles

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Just like last year, Bishop Hartley was central Ohio's lone representative in the state high school football championships this season, and just like in 2015 the Hawks walked away again with the title.

Hartley won the Division IV state championship over Steubenville with a last-second 31-yard field goal by Matteo Agriesti, 24-21. The Hawks also defeated the Big Red in last year's final.

It's Hartley fourth state title and third since 2010.

The Big Red missed a late field goal to take the lead, which Hartley's Cody Kirkbride returned to the Steubenville 32 with 1:32 to go.

Running back Nick Onega opened the scoring for the Hawks at 5:44 in the 1st quarter with a 38-yard touchdown run.

The score stayed the same until a Jalen McGhee nine-yard TD run tied the game at 7 with 11:22 to go in the half.

Hartley then scored two touchdowns (Jake Ruby 32 yard pass to Jaden Manley at 8:02 and Marquette Dixon with a 44-yard run at 5:32) with the Steubenville getting last-second score (Johnny Agresta 2-yard run with :05 left) to make it 21-14 at half.

Steubenville tied the game with 5:41 left in regulation after Javon Davis' 21-yard touchdown pass to Charles Reeves.
