The Football Fever: Exploring Ryan Day's ability as a recruiter

Exploring Ryan Day's ability as a recruiter

COLUMBUS -- Ryan Day was just hours removed from being named head coach at Ohio State following the Rose Bowl and was already on the road recruiting Tuesday night in Springfield, Ill.

"Every high school player in Ohio should aspire to be an Ohio State Buckeye," Day told reporters during the media conference Tuesday afternoon.

Head Coach Urban Meyer said Day will have to maintain "a laser light focus" on recruiting. He once said that recruiting was 70 percent of the job.

Meyer concludes his coaching career in the Rose Bowl New Year's Day in Pasadena.

Day will have to sharpen his focus on recruiting as he takes over the program. recruiting expert Kevin Noon told ABC-6, "He's the open and the closer now, he's in a much different role."

The 39-year old Day signed a five-year contract worth 4.5 million dollars a year.
