Florida native Sarah Converse has lived in the Midwest for four years, and joined ABC 6 in June 2023.
Sarah joins us from sister station WICS in Springfield, Ill., where she was the weekend meteorologist and also anchored newscasts.
Her meteorology journey began in Florida as a second grader when Hurricane Wilma tore through her hometown. She even got to experience the eye of the hurricane. This experience blossomed a passion for meteorology in Sarah. Following high school, she graduated from Florida State University with a B.S in Meteorology.
At Florida State, Sarah began her on-air experience through the school’s student-run show called FSU Weather. After graduation, she went to WICS News Channel 20. In her four years in Springfield, she covered multiple tornado outbreaks, ice storms, record snow events, and most recently a dust storm that resulted in a deadly multi-vehicle pileup on a major interstate.
When Sarah is not on the green screen, she is reading another thriller novel or hanging out with her cat, Celine. Sarah also enjoys hunting and fishing with her dad and grandfather. She loves listening to classic rock bands like Styx and Def Leppard.
Sarah is excited to stay in the Midwest and explore Columbus. You can follow her at Meteorologist Sarah Converse on Facebook. Make sure to send her photos of sunsets and sunrises!
